Back to school in your thirties

After posting some pics on to Flickr and having a browse around the site, I thought it would be nice to take great photos especially of some of the buildings around London. I’ve always taken notice of the great architecture of London while walking to work. Head in the clouds some would say! So anyway, while browsing some of the other blogs on this site someone mentioned that the Open University does a Digital Photography course. On this I decided to look up the OU website and while on there I also noticed that they did a Design and the Web course. Both look interesting to me and as they cost quite a bit I’ve got a tough decision to make. With the photography course I will need to buy a SLR camera as well, which after a quick look on the net it would cost around £250, where with the web design course I would only have to pay for the course. Now taking great photos is a bonus and would be a great hobby but the web design course could be a benefit at work.

My other dilemma is a complete lack of confidence in actually registering for any course. One half of my brain is saying you can do this and it will be great while the other side is saying you are too stupid for this and you won’t have the confidence to do it. Then the other thing is will I have the time to do the course – both are 10 hours a week for 10 weeks. Will I neglect this blog? Will I ever have time to start running properly? Or to keep up my ice-skating? Will I be motivated enough to actually do the work? Will I ever do any housework (I have problems with this one now!)?

Sounds like I’m talking myself out of it but writing about this on here is making me feel better about it and I should do at least start one course. As they both start in May at least I won’t have too much time to worry about it. Now, which course should I do… blimey I hate making decisions.

So… which did you choose? Open University courses are fab and, trust me, you always discover that you’re far from the dimmest in the class!
